While I was visiting Busan, South Korea, my number one priority was taking the cute and charming Busan Sky Capsule. Enclosed in an adorable miniature train car, you’ll float on an elevated rail with gorgeous views of Busan’s famous coastline and neighboring ocean. Not only is the Busan Sky Capsule a unique way to explore the city, but it’s far too cute to pass up—so you know I booked my ticket as soon as I found out about it!

Where Is the Busan Sky Capsule Located?

The Busan Sky Capsule is located in Haeundae, Busan at Blue Line Park. This area is a must-visit in Busan city, with beautiful ocean views and the laid-back charm that Busan is known for. Blue Line Park is one of the newer attractions in Busan, but it has become explosively popular.

There are two attractions here, the Haeundae Beach Train and the Sky Capsule. The former is a lovely repurposed railway that takes you along the coast, and the latter is a collection of small, private capsules that ride on elevated rails on the same path. We opted to take the Sky Capsules because, well, they’re just adorable!

How to Get Tickets for the Busan Sky Capsule

Tickets for the Busan Sky Capsule are always in high demand! There is only one route, which runs back and forth from Mipo Station to Cheongsapo Station.

The ride from Mipo Station to Cheongsapo Station is much more popular and often sells out, so make sure to book your tickets on the website in advance if possible. The other direction, Cheongsapo Station to Mipo Station, is much less popular and almost always has openings, so you can buy your ticket in person if you wish.

Each capsule holds up to 4 people, but they are booked per party. That means you are guaranteed to have a private capsule for your group, so do not worry about having to share with other parties. I really like this setup because it makes the whole experience much more cozy and intimate!

Additional Busan Sky Capsule Information: Hours, Price, & More

Busan Sky Capsule Hours

The Busan Sky Capsule operates daily, but hours might vary depending on the season. During high season (May, June, and September), the Busan Sky Capsule is open from 9 AM to 7:30 PM. During the misleadingly named Polar Season (July and August), the hours extend to 8:30 PM. If you’re taking the Busan Sky Capsule in the winter season (November-February), hours run from 9 AM to 6 PM, and during March, April, and October the hours extend to 6:30.

I know that’s quite confusing to understand, so I’ve also pasted the current Haeundae Blue Line Park schedule below. And here’s a link to the schedule page to double check for current updates!

Busan Sky Capsule Price

All fares for the Busan Sky Capsule are one-way. For 2 people, it’s 40,000 won; for 3 people, 45,000 won; and for 4 people, 50,000 won. The price is quite reasonable, so I booked mine right away.

They are pretty flexible with refunds and cancellations—you can get a 100% refund up to 3 days before the boarding date. After that, your refund drops to 80%, 70%, and 50% on each following day. The Busan Sky Capsule runs rain or shine, so if you want to see the best ocean views, keep an eye on the forecast leading up to your chosen date!

My Experience Riding the Busan Sky Capsule

Arriving at Haeundae Blue Line Park

After entering Haeundae Blue Line Park, we followed the clear signage and easily found the line for the elevated Sky Capsules. The line can get fairly long but moves very quickly, so have your tickets handy on your phone.

There are a few different capsule colors: red, yellow, green, blue, and (at least while we were there) a pink one promoting the Busan World Expo. You don’t get to choose your capsule color, but they all look the same on the inside anyway.

Riding the Busan Sky Capsule

The capsules move at an extremely leisurely pace, so settle in and enjoy the ride! You’ll pass by the capsules heading the other direction on the opposite track. It was fun to wave at the other passerby! Each capsule also has a small table and a handy little stand to prop up your phone for pictures or to play music.

The views from the Busan Sky Capsule are simply fantastic. I totally understand why the ride from Mipo to Cheongsapo is more popular—you ride on the outside track, which means better views of the beautiful ocean!

We rode one way to Cheongsapo during the day, hung out in Cheongsapo for a couple hours, and then rode back at sunset. I can’t recommend that enough, because seeing both the expansive blue ocean and the sunset colors is just too good to pass up.

The Other Side: Cheongsapo Station

When you arrive at Cheongsapo Station, take some time to explore the charming area. There’s not much to do there, but we enjoyed having dessert and tea at the super-aesthetic Cafe Rooftop. (If Cafe Rooftop isn’t your style, there are plenty of local cafes to choose from. Let me tell you, Korea really takes their cafe culture seriously!)

I also recommend checking out the train station if you aren’t planning to take the Haeundae Beach Train. Watching the train pull into the station is super charming with the ocean in the background!

Once you’re done exploring Cheongsapo, you can either take the Busan Sky Capsule back to Mipo, take the Beach Train, or find your way back on your own.
